Hornsea Pottery Set of Milk Jug and Creamer, Lancaster Vitramic, Manufactured in England in the 1970's.
This is a beautiful set of a milk jug and a creamer in the timeless Contrast pattern by famous maker Hornsea of England.
It features a lovely matte brown glaze with a white and black stripe and a white interior.
Hornsea's Contrast pattern was designed by Lord Queensberry and Martin Hunt. Together in 1974 they produced this very successful range of tableware .
"Contrast" was one of Hornsea's most striking designs. It was in production from 1974 to 1987 and was their most successful range selling across the world.
In 1976 the Victoria and Albert Museum added it to their permanent collection in London and in 1977-1978 it featured in British Government design exhibitions overseas.
Hornsea’s Contrast was the epitome of contemporary popular ceramics in the 1970's. This stylish tableware easily competed with Scandinavian ceramics.
The milk jug/creamer measures just over 3" tall an 5.75" from handle to spout.
The smaller creamer/cream jug is 3" tall, 3" wide.
